The Migori governor election petition is set for full hearing as both parties won in applications rulings last Thursday.

High Court judge Hillary Chemetei gave orders on an applications filed by both the petition, former cabinet minister Ochilo Ayacko and respondents led by governor Okoth Obado.

Chemetei ruled in favour of Ayacko to have all election materials and ballot boxes in all 826 polling centers in the county sealed ahead of full hearing.

Ayacko petitioned IEBC, county RO Charles Mutai and governor Obado as first, second and third respondent respectively.

“The first and second respondents need to supply respective seals in voting materials in all polling stations in the next seven days under supervision of deputy registrar of this court,”Chemetei ruled.

Obado won when the judge temporarily denied to give ruling on application by Ayacko through his lawyer Roche Odhiambo for scrutiny and vote recount.

He said the ruling on scrutiny and vote recount application will be made based on evidences which will be presented before the court during the hearing stage; however he said the applicants still have the room to make fresh applications on the same.

Addressing the press outside the court Odhiambo Roche (Ayacko’s lawyer) and Evans Ondieki who represented Obado said they were ready for full hearing and called for calm.
