Arsenal announce signing of midfielder Krystian Beilik

Arsenal has announce signing of midfielder Krystian Bielik.

The 17 year old only joined Legia in August from Lech Poznan but impressed Arsene Wenger whilst on trial with the Gunners in December.

Whilst Arsenal have yet to reveal the full cost of the deal it is expected to be around £2m.

The teenager is a versatile player with the ability to play in both midfield and defence and his 6ft 2in frame will certainly add some much needed stature to the Arsenal squad.

Bielik made his senior debut for the Polish side in August at the age of 16 and featured five times in the league and once in the Europa league this season.

It is unclear whether he will feature for the Gunners first team any time soon, though Arsene Wenger has hinted this could be a possibility.

Speaking before the move was confirmed, Arsene Wenger said of Bielik: “Yes, he will go into the first-team squad.
“He’s a defensive midfielder, 6ft 2in, he has a good energy level and technical level. It’s a gamble but, on what we saw, it’s worth to take the gamble.

“It’s an awful lot of money for a player if he doesn’t succeed. If he does succeed, then it’s cheap.”

Bielik is the third Polish international to sign for the Gunners from Legia Warsaw with the youngster following in the footsteps of goalkeepers Lukasz Fabianski and Wojciech Szczesny.
