The mysterious Mbadi!

Over the decades, history has peculiar way of repeating itself, prophecy would always come to pass and bible verses do mirror the contemporary World. The history of King David and that of Hon. John Mbadi converge at a point. Then there is also the birth mark of Lisuria, the youngest son of Kiboye and father of the Lisuria subclan – brother to Dibuoro and Achuodho. The older generation would tell you how that birth mark symbolised crown, the envy it almost escalated into within the family and how it was peacefully resolved among the Kiboye’s children.

Now as fate would explain it, that birthmark after several years would later re-appear in the Ng’ongo’s family. John Mbadi – son to Ng’ongo the peasant and a weaver – at a very tender age had unprecedentedly developed a circular gray patch on his forehead, the conspicuous mark that exists to date.
Proverbs 16:31 states; gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.

On the other hand, Jesse – the father of King David – was a mere peasant and herdsman who led a very simple life by all standards. And despite the family’s social status there emerged the King; the conqueror of the land.

Before the eyes of the man many wrote David off. He was the youngest, a non-entity and at the time of selection for crowning he was out in the field herding sheep.

(…Then Samwel asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” Jesse answered, “No, I have another son—my youngest, but he is out taking care of the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him. Bring him here. We won’t sit down to eat until he arrives.” Jesse sent someone to get his youngest son. This son was a good-looking, healthy young man. He was very handsome. The LORD said to Samuel, “Get up and anoint him. He is the one.” Samuel took the horn with the oil in it, and poured the special oil on Jesse’s youngest son in front of his brothers. The Spirit of the LORD came on David with great power from that day on…)

Now just a quick shift to 2007, among the contestants for the then Suba constituency (now Suba South) John Mbadi was the youngest and the poorest of all. His net worth was a mere pocket change for Dangote Wuod Japuony who was filthy rich. Madiri Syong’oh and Felix Nyauchi each could parallelly oil Mbadi’s entire campaigns and equally fund theirs with much ease if they chose to. They were men of immense wealth of that time. But Suba residents chose to elect the son of a weaver “Jachwe Odheru”. To cut the long script, for a record of 15years in history of Suba Hon. Mbadi held the seat till he voluntarily ‘shifted’.

And as a human he had the dream to serve at a higher capacity. He wished of vacating parliament for governorship conducting one of the most organised and high momentum campaigns of our time. The race was his to loose till he was prevailed upon by Raila.

Interestingly, when some quarters were contemplating of his apocalyptic end, God pulled him back to the legislative assembly. Why him? Is it luck, fate or just a normal occurrence? Me think there seems to be a still higher call he’s destined to fulfill. The path could prove long and winding but eventually it will be fulfilled. And may be, there could be some supernatural powers paving his way. As Raila Odinga would always call him “Nyakwar Jabilo”…I also say Nyakwar Gor Mahia is a mystery.
