Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto is nursing injuries sustained after being attacked by youths alloed to Jubilee Party.

Trouble started when a confrontation ensued between Rutto’s Chama cha Mashinani supporters and those of Jubilee Party at Silbwet Stadium in Bomet county on Sunday.

The governor was whisked from the venue by his security personnel before being flown to Nairobi while being heavily bandaged.

“The Police attacked me and my supporters with several tear gas canisters. One canister hit me on the face. I am in pain but feeling much better, but as you can see my eye has a problem and I am heading for treatment,” Mr Ruto told journalists at the Wilson airport.

He accused blamed police for being used by government to intimidate and harass his supporter as he seeks to bring the rift in Rift Valley from DP William Ruto backyard.

The attack comes barely days after the governor held successful rally in Transmara region of Kajiado county in what scared Jubilee mandarins.
