Migori governor Okoth Obado has been told off by party officials for building a parallel ODM Orange house building within Migori town.

The House dubbed “ODM Orange House Team 044” constructed by Obado has been criticized by the Migori county ODM party officials as an attempt to divide the party.

County ODM chairperson Philip Makabongo have accused the governor of an attempt to hijack the party by coming up with an office without involving the county party officials.

County party secretary Joseph Olala said they don’t recognize the new office as their office is the one at Migori County Stadium within Migori town.

“We don’t know the office, don’t want it and Obado should stop going around telling the public that he has built ODM Orange house in Migori,” Olala fumed.

The two also said attempts by Obado to appoint himself as “ODM county patron” is set to create further division as the position doesn’t exist in the party constitution.

“When we invited him to Orange party after defecting from PDP we did so as an ordinary member, his characters of late are set to divide the part further,” Olala said.

He added that the governor must adhere to the rules of the party and respect the existing Migori county ODM office.

Makabong’o said they have told Obado off severally gainst calling himself a patron or confusing locals of his new office, but he has refused.

“We wonder loudly if he is out to wreck havoc in the party by creating division,” he said.

During the burial of Central Kanyamkago ward representative Michael Osongo, Obado said the office belongs to him personally for his 2017 election and in extension Cord leader Raila Odinga campaign.

“The office will coordinate my reelection in 2017 and help seek votes for Raila,” he said.
