Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National chairman John Mbadi has assured the party members of a free and fair election during the party nominations.

Speaking over the weekend in Uriri Sub County during the burial of former chiefs Cyprian Jobando, Mbadi said it is through him that the party will follow a new direction.

Mbadi said that the party will this time do their nominations process one year earlier to give room for a free and fair party participation by all members.

“We have a plan to do our nominations earlier and i will make sure it is the best nominations ever, remember i am the first Luo to be in that top position, “he said.

This followed after various leaders raised alarm over irregularities and confusion over the party elections and nominations in the country.

Homa Bay party elections were last week postponed after different wrangles in the hotly contested chairperson’s seat that was between the women representative Gladys Wanga and Homa Bay town Mp Peter Kaluma.

Mbadi said it is through an official authorised by the party that all the communications should come through.

“We have the officials who were chosen by the party and they are the ones allowed to give any result of the party elections, you cannot just go and announce yourself in a hotel then you start celebrating,” he said.

Uriri Member of Parliament Eng.John Kobado said it is after nominations that different leaders go for other parties and this comes from poor party nominations process.

“In Migori County, we have different leaders who won through small parties which are not ODM, we need to check that as party members before next general elections, if you see any person win with a different party in an ODM zone then thus the right person chosen by the people”. He said.

However, Ida Odinga requested the party to be fair this time round to all its members to avoid the different wrangles the party experience.

“Everyone is a member of ODM and we should welcome all at this time to help the party leader and the party at large,” she said.

Different leaders in Migori County are elected with other parties including the governor’s post which went to PDP party.
