The Nairobi-based business magnet was today endorsed by Homabay County political heavyweights to vie for the Gubernatorial position in the Lakeside County come 2017.

Speaking in his office where he hosted fifteen MCA’s from the incumbent’s Karachwonyo backyard, Former Rangwe MP, Hon. Phillip Okoth Okundi confirmed that the only person who can be trusted by the leadership of this great County
is Sammy Wakiaga, popularly known as “Wuod Ruoth.”

This revelation comes barely a fortnight after a section of Homa Bay leaders which included 30 MCAs and residents pilled pressure on him to run for governor next year at a fundraiser held in Koyore Primary, Rangwe Constituency.

They said he has all the qualities needed to take over from Governor Cyprian Awiti, whose leadership they called “a total failure”, a claim confirmed by Eng. Okundi.

The fundraiser was presided over by Wakiaga and attended by Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga, Rangwe MP George Oner and former Nairobi mayor George Aladwa.

“I have been to almost 20 primary schools in the past few weeks but I have not even seen any modern Early Childhood Development classroom built by the county government, a function which has been devolved,” Kuppet secretary general Akello Misori said at the function.

Homa Bay majority chief whip Johnson Ocholla said Awiti has not carried out any development program except launching white elephant projects.

“We are tired of the current leadership, we need a change in Homa Bay but the only person who can make a difference is Wakiaga, we have endorsed him,” he said.

Wakiaga, however, steered off the topic and urged residents to acquire ID and voter cards to vote next year. He urged the county government to use the available resources to better the peoples lives.

Homabay County has of the recent past witnessed major political dynamics from the death of former Senator Gerald Otieno Kajwang, to ODM elections which gave team Gladys Wanga an upper hand in the County politics.

It is also reported that Hon. Oyugi Magawnga of Kasipul will deputize Wakiaga, Wanga women rep and a senator to come from Ndhiwa, a vote rich block.

The current senator my drop a little bit low to fight for Mbita Parliamentary seat against Kisumu based accountant Mr. James Akali and the current Mbita MP Hon. Milly Odhiambo, said an impeccable source privy to the county’s political class.
