Leaving about 300 staff jobless and deperaqte

The Ngo moved to Kisumu County and the fate of its staff in Migori is not known as some of them took bank loans to educate their children in colleges and secondary schools.

They complained that they will not be able to pay back the loans as the NGO did not give them prior notice or compensating them for the period they were engaged by the NGO.

They appealed to the government to intervene and have the NGO pay them and offset their bank loans as they did not have an alternative source of livelihood.

They expressed fear that their children may forced out of school due to fees problem as some of them may not be able to raise fess required for their children education.

Some of them have been thrown out of houses they rented due failure to pay September and October rent.

Their families have been going without meals for the period their contacts were terminated and efforts to have dialogue with the former bosses was fruitless as they kept on telling them to wait.

Last week the staff boycotted reporting on duty paralyzing operations in major health facilities in the region.

They were promised that an NGO that was to take over would absorb them to continue offering essential health services but they are yet to get communication from the County government bosses.
