six dead, over 20 missing as mini bus swept by floods

Six people are reported dead while over 20 are still missing after flash floods swept away a minibus.

The Friday incident occurred at Agolo Muok area in Gwasi South at the border of Migori-Homabay County.

According to Gwasi central location chief, Gordon Seko accident happened when Nyanga dam suddenly broke its walls following El Nino rains.

According to Nyatike OCPD, Dishon Chebaka the recovered bodies have been taken to St Camillus Hospital Mortuary in Sori as police, Red Cross officials and residents have launched a search.

According to the survivors Joseph Okwaro and John Odhiambo who survived the accident said despite the vehicle having a seating capacity of 26, over 18 people remained standing in the vehicle.
