Politics could be linked to the murder of the father to a Godjope ward aspirant who was found murdered yesterday.

Geshon Oyugi, whose son Otieno Chogo has shown interest in GodJope ward, was found dead in a sugarcane plantation next to Godjope Centre.

According to the area chief Elisha Oluoch, the 75 year old had not arrived home by 8 PM contrary to normal routine prompting the family to mount a search.

“They suspected something was amiss and they tried to reach him through his phone that went unanswered after several attempts,” Oluoch said.

The family then began tracking him via the phone towards the Godjope center when they heard his phone ring from a nearby sugarcane plantation, the chief explained.

“He was found with injuries from blunt objects on his head as well as likely strangle marks on his neck around his neck,” the chief added.

Nothing was however stolen from him as meat he had bought and one thousand shillings were found on him.

Sources however said Chogo’s father was spotted around 6 PM at the Centre as he was headed home before he met his death.

But Oluoch said it is unclear what might have led to the death of Oyugi and added that police were investigating the matter.
