A hairdresser from Oruba estate in Migori town has called for Sh120,000 medical help for her sickly infant.

Maureen Atieno Odoyo said her son Britney Junior Otieno is nine months and can’t sit or move on his bed because of the sickness which affected him at six months.

She discovered that her son was not normal immediately she introduced new food after six months breastfeeding.

“He started straining when passing urine which alarmed us,” she said.
Odoyo later discovered that no digestion was taking place since every food given would come out through his mouth and the nostrils.

“After very keen check I learnt that my son had a very small anal that could not allow passage of stool,” Odoyo said..

She said her son became inactive and weak because he depended solely on breast milk which has seen her move from several hospitals including St Joseph Ombo hospital in Migori and Kisii level four seeking for treatment.

“I was referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret where they did a first surgery at side of his stomach to pass stool which now needs a major surgery,” she said.

Odoyo had spent her entire savings in treating her son.

She said from the time her son was operated he would sometimes cry for a long time due to the pain from the wounded stomach since the stitches expands and contraction during that time causing him a lot of pain, mostly at night.

She reveals she earns Sh1,500 a month which goes for her house rent and food

Migori county director of health Joel Gondi said such intestinal complications can only be solved through operation in special hospitals.
