Suna West MP Peter Masara hosted several leaders for a funds drive at St Celestine Catholic Church in Oruba area.

Masara worships at the church and alongside the priest, Father Vitalis Lana organised the harambee.

Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje who is the deputy whip attended among other leaders.

Leaders who attended are Awendo MP Walter Owino, Migori governor Ochillo Ayacko, Migori senator Eddy Oketch, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi

Emmanuel Wangwe, Namukhondo MP and the chairman of Public Investment Committee sent his regards.

Leaders called on the church to pray for the country and politicians to help in changing Kenya and also lauded Masara for being able to make friends with other leaders.

“We as Catholics we have taken a chance to be here today because of the effort of this church and members like Masara for development,” Ayacko said.

Ayacko called on parliament to stay up to help change the country by pushing through development.

“As counties we have delays in receiving devolved funds, but we have leaders who think by going to State House they will get development,” Ayacko said.

“Masara has been a close friend when I call him for harambee in Awendo and even in funerals, that is why I did not miss his invite,” Owino said.

The legislator said church should pray for peace among elected leaders to spur development.

Mwenje said he was humbled to help build the church and honored the invite by the legislator.

“We are under Azimio because I was elected on Jubilee ticket, but the friendship we have even when he is in ODM is a true mark of leadership,” Mwenje said.

Oketch said he was St Celestine Church because he, governor Ayacko and Masara are living under the parish in Migori town and are Catholics.

“I will think of changing my membership from Rapogi Catholic to this church b cause most people we grew up with in Migori town are here,” Oketch said.
