Migori Deputy Governor Mahiri Gimunta has eulogised his predecessor as a bulwark of Migori politics.
Gimunta said the first county Deputy Governor Mwita Mahanga who passed on yesterday remains a bulwark not only in Kuria politics, but also the county.
“We will fondly remember him as among first leaders who gained education in Kuria, was also a big professional who inspired us young leaders,” Mahiri said.
Mahanga was the first Deputy Governor under Okoth Obado and served for ten years.
“Apart from this he was key in negotiated democracy which brought the Kuria and Luo community together in our young county,” he said.
Mahanga was a banker who took time to vie as Kuria MP and was keen in pushing through multiparty politics.
