A Kuria man from Tarang’anya village is walking scot free after chopping off his wife’s hand because she spent more days at a funeral.

Musa Matiko Gisiri committed the heinous crime on Thursday night, and ever since he has never been arrested as his family has kept it way from local chief and his assistant.

Maria Rioba Musa, 50, a mother of nine is fighting for her life at St Joseph Mission Hospital where she was only taken by her brother’s son after being for death.

“I left for a funeral on Monday as one of our in law was dead, I asked my husband for permission but the burial was Wednesday, I came home on Thursday when I was attacked,” Rioba said.

She will now face the rest of her life with disability on her left hand while doctors are still struggling to restore her right hand which was left dangling after a panga attack

Her husband also cut her on her forehead and threw a spear which was stuck in her belly.

“He attacked me after I had prepared supper, I need justice so that he can also feel the pain I am going through in this hospital bed,” she said.

Maria is the only breadwinner in her family fending off for her five children in high school and colleges including Catherine Musa a first year student at Msomi TTC who is nursing her.

“We are stuck financially as a family and we are facing uncertain future because my mother is now disabled,” Catherine said.

Migori police boss Joseph Nthenge said the matter is yet to be reported to any police station to start investigations.

He said his department will seek more information from local police and public administrators.
