Govt marks Kadem, Kanyamkago boundaries to bring peace along Nyatike and Uriri

Government has brought to an end bad blood between Kadem and Kanyamkago clans in Migori county over a boundary.

The Kanyamkago’s Kajulu sub-clan from Uriri sub county and their counterparts of Kanyuor sub-clan in larger Kadem from Nyatike sub-county have been feuding over ancestral boundary.

But finally a lasting peace have been brokered after the government marked demarcations separating their boundaries.

“In the past these tensions have seen lost of valuable properties, lives and has even forced others to relocate,” David Gitonga, Migori county commissioner said.

He led a delegation from the adjudication office, land registrar and survey department outlined that through the of GPRS, they have been able to identify the becones from the original map from the director of survey in Nairobi.

Speaking during the marking of the boundary separating the two sub-counties and the two rival clans, Samuel Anyona, an elder from north east kadem outlined that the move by the government to Mark the boundary will provide a long-lasting peace between the rival clans which has stretched over decades.

Mzee Katete Jowi revealed that they have lost their children over a land dispute between the two clans, adding that even their homes have been torched from time to time.

The dispute between the two clans has existed for over 4 decades from 1984.

Those with intentions of removing the demarcations place by the government will be jailed for not less than seven years.
