County to spent Sh4million for school disasters

Migori county government will spend more than Sh4 Million to schools that were affected by disaster in the county.

The initiative will see different schools in the county benefiting from donations done by the county government to help improve the standards of education in the county.

So far Governor Okoth Obado has identified various schools in the county that will be the major beneficiary of the project.

The schools expected to benefit from the programme are Ochieng Orwa and Nyikendo (Suna East), Wikongaro (Uriri), Sumba (Rongo), Lwala and Migori primary (Suna West), Nyamitha,God Keyo,Nyora and Odiyo (Nyatike).

Speaking while addressing the locals in Sumba Primary, North Kamagambo, in Rongo sub county , the governor requested other elected leaders to join the county government in development projects done  in the county.

“We all work for one people in this county and we should share responsibility of working to our people collectively,” he said.

Various schools within the county have been affected by disaster due to bad weather and the governor advised the schools to practice afforestation in their various areas.

“As management we can also try to use methods that can make us out of these disaster, let us plant more trees as they act as wind breakers in our environment”. he added.

Migori county Assembly Majority leader and the area MCA Richard Solo also advised the locals to work together with the governor for the sake of development in the area.

Solo promised to support the county government in all their development agenda and to endorse good working relationship with the governor.

“We are one government and the county assembly members must work with the governor for as to achieve our dreams as a county, and that will take nothing away from us ,” he said.

The area was also a major side affected by cholera few months ago and the locals appreciated the efforts done by the government to curb the deadly disease.

“Currently we have not heard much problem about cholera in this area but we still lack clean water hence we fear another outbreak”. one of the villager Tabitha Awuor said.
