Leaders drawn from different sectors in the former Nyanza region, are currently meeting in Migori town to have a dialogue on peace in the region.

The peace initiative programmme is aimed at helping the leaders come up with guidelines on national dialogue and mediation to help when crises arise among communities in the region.

The leaders were also trained on structures that should be put in place for there to be an effective mediation process whenever conflict arises in the community.

The meeting brought together religious leaders, community elders, opinion leaders and security agencies from Siaya, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii, Migori, Homa-Bay and Nyamira counties.

The leaders were also informed on the status of peace and conflict in the region as well as peace building and conflict management initiatives and strategies in place.
