Heavy rains in Migori county has seen three people drown, with several homeless across the area.

The two women and a man drowned in separate incidents according to witnesses, with homes in Nyora and Kabuto areas of Nyatike and Dago in Rongo being swept away.

Monica Okwany said her elder sister was cultivating her farm next to the river Migori and was out to sought water when she slipped and was swept away.

“She went to fetch water from the river, we have since traced her last contacts but no one seems to have a clear information on what’s happened to her. Her jembe and other farm utilities were recovered at the garden,” she said.

An epileptic woman slipped and fell into the river as she sold bananas at Migori bridge.

Both bodies have been retrieved including that of a man who drowned while bathing in river Migori.
