Homa bay Senator Moses Kajwang as chided governors from Nyanza for using the Kisii town BBI conference to fla off their floundering political careers and ide beind poor development record.
Kajwang’ said some governors, who have taken over the summit from other leaders, will use it to revive their political career.
His statement comes as supremacy battle brewed ahead of planning between governors and other elected leaders.
Kajwang’ said most Nyanza governors are serving their second term in office and have no development track record.
“Some of our county bosses have been absconding duties as a result of their insatiable appetite for political rallies, they love political conventions than anything else,” he said.
The chairman of the senate’s Public Accounts Committee said governors have h jacked the event’s program to get undeserved credit.
“The BBI is a Raila – Uhuru thing , and it’s a thing of the people thus they should not attempt to hijack it to jumpstart their dwindling political careers,” he added.
The senator said that when president Uhuru Kenyatta had a convention of the Mount Kenya Region in Sagana last year, governors were not in the forefront saying governors should not take advantage of the convention for political gains.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM ) party leader Raila Odinga has made it a reality to host leaders to deliberate the BBI report when he made the commitment during the burial of the mother of Homabay senator Moses Kajwang last month.
Raila said that after the
Kisii conference, similar meetings will be replicated in countrywide to
reinforce their demands which were not captured by the task force.
Speaking in Migori, Homabay senator Moses Kajwang said it was a meeting worth
for it would give leaders a common denominator of understanding and dispensing
the content of the BBI to the people.
On his part Uriri MP Mark Nyamita said the meeting would give leaders and
delegates the opportunity to share and commonly speak in one voice as a region.
However it is not clear whether Migori county boss will be in attendance as he has distanced himself with recent meetings subsequent to the 10th Summit in Kisii.
