Migori governor Ochillo Ayacko is grappling with reversing empty water taps that have rocked the county for seven months.

Since water supply was cut in May residents in Rongo, Awendo, Kehancha and Isebania towns have been forced to buy water from private dealers as some walk long distances to get water from streams and River Migori.

Among worst hit area is the Migori county referral hospital and the office of the governor have also not been spared as they depend on water vendors for water.

Governor Ochilo Ayacko admitted that they inherited a problem and have set aside Sh25million to reconnect water including paying a power bill for water supply amounting to Sh14 million.

Ayacko said they were working round the clock to ensure that water is restored within two weeks.

“Water is life and everyone has a right to get it. When I assumed office I found that there is no water water. Taps are dry,” he said.

Moreover, the governor said he was also going to ensure residents enjoy clean markets as all filth was going to be removed.
