No gun will be allowed in tallying centers to avert violence, all licensed guns will be left to police- Commander

Migori county police commander Mark Wanjala has warned that private gun holders will be not allowed in elections.

Wanjala said all licensed gun holders will leave their firearms with police outside tallying centers and collect them when leaving.

“This will help avert violence and maintain peace,” Wanjala said.

He assured that police are vigilant and will maintain peace during the elections.

He was reacting to reports on gun drama that has marred Suna West and Nyatike constituencies.

The concerns were raised during a peace meeting in Migori town organised by International Republican Institute.
