Two people were serious injured as clashes flared between two communities in Migori County following cattle rustling incidents carried out by the one community against their neighbours.

One community from Wasimbete Village went on a rampage yesterday evening to protest police laxity after four cattle which were stolen and driven to Bembewe Village in Kuria West to recover them back.

Area MP Joseph Ndiege called for the deployment of security officers along the porous borders to contain the situation and said tension is high between the two communities.

Speaking over the phone, Ndiege said Police Officers should move with speed and restore peace between the two communities by ensuring all stolen cows are returned to calm the situation.

The area has faced rampant cases of cattle rustling organized by rustlers said from Kuria which have caused the problem.

A group of Luo Community members who were trailing their animals in the Kuria region were attacked by armed Kuria youths which brought the fracas.

A villager said they were trailing the animals before a group of Kuria youths intercepted their path and insisted they head back where they come from.

Confirming the incident, Migori police boss, Moses Chepyegon said they managed to recover two out of the four cows that were stolen and restore peace.

Chepyegon has also assured security along the border saying that a group of security personnel have been deployed in the region to recover the remaining two cows.

He urged leaders from the two communities to help in restoring peace as they try to apprehend the suspects.
