BREAKING NEWS: Curfew changed from 9pm-4am, cessation of movement on in Mombasa, Nairobi and Garissa- Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta has changed national curfew time for the next 30 days starting from from 7pm-5am to 9pm-4am.

The new time takes effect from July 7, Kenyatta announced in State House today in a national address.

In new orders the President also extended in the next 30 days cessation of movement in Mombasa, Nairobi and Garissa counties from July 7, this is because of high cases of positive cases in the area.

It is good news to residents of Eastleigh in Nairobi and Old Town in Mombasa as cessation of movement in the area have been relaxed from tomorrow.

“Same cessation of movement placed in Kilifi and Kwale counties have been lifted as cases have reduced,” Kenyatta said.

Education stakeholders movement have been instructed to offer new school calendar by mid -august and publish guidelines for gradual opening of learning institution which is set for 3 September when third term was to begin.

“After consultation with religious leaders, a committee will be formed in seven days on measures of how to open religious centers,” Kenyatta said.

Bars will remain closed for further 30 days, together with social gathering (markets, rallies etc). Ban on International travel, including closure of border with Tanzania and Somali, will remain closed.
