A woman aged 40 years has been arrested and is in police custody after sexually assaulting a minor aged eight years in several occasions.

The victim’s mother aged 28 years old reported the matter after being suspicious with the crime happening in diverse dates between February and March this year.

Esther Mwaata Katongo, the Public Relations Officer of Zambia Police Service said the incident happened in Chilenje area.

She said the incident, “occurred on unknown dates on two occasions between February, 2020 and 6th March, 2020 in Chilenje.”

“The suspect indescently assaulted the victim and threatened him that he would die if he disclosed to anyone,” she said in a statement.

In a press statement shared by Zambia Reports, the woman was diagnosed of an STI in a local hospital and is in police custody where she will be “charged with Indescent Assault on a boy.”
