Angry Youth Ask Where Their Leaders Have Been During Maandamao As Kuria MCA Leads Demos In Migori Town

Masaba MCA Clerkson Mwita leads youth in anti government protests Thursday

Migori residents are up in arms after their leaders ignored calls by the Azimio Leader Raila Odinga to come out to the streets for the second week.

Leaders from both the National Assembly and County Assembly of Migori have given the maandamanos a wide berth leaving residents alone to march in solidarity with Odinga.

The same situation was witnessed Thursday March 30, 2023 where several youth were left alone in the streets for the better part of the day.

But it took the intervention of one MCA Hon. Clerkson Mwita of Masaba ward in Kuria West who led residents in Migori town in the anti-government demonstrations in the afternoon sessions.

This was before the youth were dispersed by police who were hiding around Posta area as they were pelted with stones.

Hon. Mwita was accompanied by ODM Secretary General Josie Olala and a host of youth in MDD gear.

Several youth who spoke to the press in Migori town Thursday afternoon demanded to know why their elected leaders led by Governor Ochillo Ayacko had defied calls by their leader Raila Odinga.

They said it was not right for Odinga to be lobbed with teargas and sprayed with water canons in Nairobi yet his grassroots leaders were enjoying the mass protests in the comfort of their living rooms.

It took the intervention of Olala who calmed down the youth but asked elected leaders under the ODM ticket not to show defiance against ‘BABA’ and join the youth.

“There is no way youth will sacrifice their time to come to the streets and heed Raila Odinga’s calls yet the leaders whom we elected are quiet,” Olala said.

Several youth have been flocking the streets since last week on designated days, with some converging at the Migori main bridge from as early as 6 AM.

This has always been followed peacefull procession from the bridge to the County Commissioners Office led by Bunge La Mwananchi youth leaders.
