Isebania police fire in the air to arrest these three robbery suspects, others flee

Isebania town police arrested three robbery with violence suspects in a dramatic night drama on Tuesday night.

Police acting on a public alert said six robbers have invaded a house at Sunshine village belonging to Paul Chacha, 31, and his wife Naomi Chacha, 25 and were armed with one pistol which they had fired in the air.

Chacha was hacked on the head, right arm and stabbed before the robbers stole Sh6,500 from him and also assaulted the wife where they stole her infinix phone.

Kuria West police boss Cleti Kimaiyo said the gang tried to escape on two motorbikes in different directions when police arrived at the scene.

“When we arrived at the scene one group was escaping and we gave a spirited chase,” Kimaiyo said.

Police recovered the motorbike a registration number KMGH 544 W trying to escape from the scene and arrested the suspects.

“Four police officer went on pursuit and had to fire thrice in the air, once using a Ceska pistol and twice using an AK47 rifle, before arresting three suspects,” Kimaiyo said.

Police recovered two bloodstained pangas, a Somali sword and a knife from the suspects’ jackets.

“The three suspects are held at Isebania police station while their victims are being treated at a local hospital,” Kimaiyo said.

A manhunt for the others is ongoing.
