Nyatike politician Odiso Ogenga on Sunday led a door-to-door mobilisation in the constituency against demonstrations by opposition.

Ogenga organised kamukunjis in several centers in the constituency to tell the public to shun Monday demonstrations by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The meetings are also set to shore up support for president William Ruto ahead of his visit in the area on Friday.

“I have placed a fatwa against any demos in Nyatike constituency, we don’t want things that will affect our economy,” Ogenga said.

He was speaking at Ongonche center, which was on of his stop overs on Sunday.

“Since 1992 as a community we have been on the streets after every general elections, we are tired,” he said.

Ogenga, who vied in the August 9 general elections said the constituency is firmly behind the government.

“We have been pushing through development agenda with government not only as Nyatike, but also as Nyanza and the Luo community,” he said.

He said on Monday nobody in Nyatike will leave for demonstrations.

Peter Kenyatta, a resident said it was fortunate that despite last elections Ogenga has chosen to always visit them.

“We know there is a push to have the Luo community be inside the government, we want to tell our president that in Nyatike Odiso is our ears and eyes,” Kenyatta said.

He said they will mobilise groups to stop any youths and groups that will join demonstrations.
