The Anti FGM board has launched a mobile application to aid in reporting in Migori County.

The application christened Pasha app was developed in collaboration with UNICEF Kenya and will be downloaded from playstore.

Speaking in Kehancha town, Kuria West, the board’s programme officer Nyerere Kutwa said the mobile application will be used to report real time cases of FGM.

Nyerere said the the government has been having difficulties in combating the vice in the Kuria region and they anticipate that reporting cases through the application will help bridge the gap.

The programmes officer said the app will complement other reporting tools and will also  be used alongside help line numbers 116 (children services) and 1195 (gender based violence).

Migori County Gender Director Oomo Kenneth acknowledged that app will broaden the reporting of FGM cases as anybody could download the app and be part of the reporting chain.

On his part, child protection specialist with UNICEF Jackson Onyando said the launch of the app was timed to coincide with the oncoming December holiday when the FGM cases are usually on rise in the Kuria region.

In Migori County, Onyando said the application will be used in Ntimaru sub-county.
