Kadika primary school risk being closed over lack of toilets which has posed a health risk to pupils and neighbours.
The school’s administration may be forced to send students at home if they shall fail to honor the letter written to the institution by the department of public health.
“The school has also been engaging pupils in cleaning the latrine with the open sewer without gloves making the pupils susceptible to health risk,” Ombogo said
The letter dated June 2, by Migori public health department ordered the school to close down a latrine that has been disposing raw sewage in open.
County Deputy Public Health Officer Kennedy Ochieng Ombogo told Migori News the open raw sewage is a health hazard to the neighboring families that have complained of waste trickling down to their compounds.
“We have given them a two weeks’ notice after which we will take the school administration to court to compel them to down the institution,” Ombogo said.
The letter also wants Kadika Primary to bring down a new latrine that has been constructed closer to households ignoring advice issued by ministry of health.
Steve Omondi Okeyo, a neighbor, said that he tried to discuss with the institution before they started constructing a new latrine adjacent to his house but the management have shown arrogance
I can’t imagine That a school well know for its outstanding performance in the past, aschool im an allumnia kadika primary Can face risk of been closed down due to lack of atoilet!!!! This Is very serious, comeup Guys letsdo something to This school.
All is being said but a visit to the school compound would reveal a very different story. Somebody must be out to waste his /her little resources on lies. The County Public Health Office can attest to the fact that the story does not represent the true position of what is on the ground. All is well and the toilets are just but at the very location where the alumni left them. The neighbour should have done some good site plan before making alot of noise. The truth is Kadika Primary is bigger than one individual.
