Taragai FC wins Ntimaru East ward tournament organised by Hon. Mwise, Siabai lift women trophy

The annual Ntimaru East ward 2020 annual tournament has been lifted by Taragai FC which floored Nyakongo Stara 4-3.

The annual tourney is fully sponsored by area MCA Hon. Augustine Mwise Mwerah.

“We ended the tourney amid effects of Covid 19 that kept most players from school for long,” Mwise told Migori News.

He said apart from giving youths a chance ‘to lose steam and regain their strength’ ahead of school re-opening the tournament has helped in building local talents.

“The level of competition we saw this year has improved and the games playd were more professional. We believe talents we saw will progress to turn out as source of income to young people,” he said.

He said the tournament is always organised from grassroot support with most teams starting up from areas which never had them before.

“When we started the tournament several years ago, some areas had to teams to talk about. Churches, schools, youths, women and boda boda groups cobbled up teams which have grown stronger,” he said.

He added that the tournament has not only benefitted the teams with cash rewards, but also uniforms and shoes.

In the women category, Siabai FC Wangira FC with a solitary goal to lift the trophy.

While Minyere Junior FC won the Junior Men trophy by beating Nyankongo Junior FC by two goals to nil.

In the same category in ladies section, Itongo Girls FC won by four goals to three against Siabai Girls FC.

In volleyball finals Itongo won by two sets to one against Minyere.
