Mukuyu wins Nyamita’s Tukuza Talanta tourney, 3 for Sony FC trials

Mukuyu fc thrashed Mori fc 3-2 in a penalty shootout to clinch this year’s Uriri Sub County tourney trophy dubbed “Tukuza Talanta in a sterning football men encounter held at Uriri high school grounds.

This is after the two teams went to a 1-1 draw in the regular 90 minutes of play with felix Aloo scoring the first goal for Mori fc in the 40th minute before Mukuyu equalizing in the 92nd minutes of the added time with a sensational kick from the 18 yards to the back of the net prompting shootouts.

Sam Otiku of Mori lost his first kick before Kevin Collince of Mukuyu sending the Mori goal keeper in a wrong direction scoring their first kick, thanks also to Wycliffe Oduor and Ogada Tobias who also ensured their kicks back in the net with only Zachary Okal and Gordon Ochola scoring their kicks to Mori fc.

Mosfa fc lost to Mukuyu fc in the first semis by 1-0 thanks to Wycliffe Njeri who scored the whole important goal that sent Mukuyu to the finals before Mori fc supplanting Manyatta fc 3-1 with Rian Gigs, Zachary Okal and Sam Otiku seeing the back of the net as Alubi Moses scoring for Manyatta fc the consolation goal.

In the women soccer finals Uftag fc lift the Tukuza talanta trophy after proving too hard on Uriri United to score 6-5 in a penalty shootout.

Both teams locked horns in the regular time of play that also prompted shootouts.

During the semis women soccer, Uriri beat Kambogo fc 1-0 with the only goal scored by Sharon Auma as Uftag beat Andingo fc 4-3 in penalty shootouts.

In volleyball men, Kodero were defeated by a hard nut to crack Rapogi in an cheering finals by 3-0 sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-20 before Uftag beating Manyata by 2-0 sets, 25-11, 25-13.

Other final matches that were played in the same ground included, Netball where Oyani emerged the victorious taking away the winning trophy as Mori finishing in position two with Lwanda becoming the second runners up.

In handball Arambe took away the winning trophy as Oyani becoming the first runners up.

The tournament’s sponsor Hon. Mark Ogolla Nyamita who is also the area MP thanked all the teams from the five wards in the constituency that participated in the event saying the games were a great success and exuded confidence that the region will be able to produce talented players who are able to compete with other players especially the national team players.

“I want to call upon every youth in this region not to slumber on your talents since you can also be like Mariga and Michael Olunga who now plays international games,”Nyamita said.

He also promised to ensure that in the next five years all the playing field in every school in Uriri sub county are levelized to the required standards  encouraging also students who does well in games and talents to also focus on studying saying they will support such students.

Nyamita said that is wise to have an exchange programs to have the referees from the region also to officiate other national games for exposure.

The winners in each category of games went home with uniforms, ball and a trophy with Mukuyu taking away the trophy for the football men and ksh.20,000,Mori the first runners up taking away 15,000 as Manyatta the 2nd runners up taking away10,000.

In football girls, Uftag took away the winning trophy, and Ksh10,000 as the first runners up Uriri fc pocketing ksh.7, 000 with Kambogo going home with Ksh.5, 000.

Oyani FC took away the Netball trophy and Ksh.1, 000 as Mori finishing in position 2 taking home ksh.7, 000 with Lwanda pocketing sH5,000.

In handball Arambe took away trophy and Sh3, 000 as Oyani becoming the first runners up taking home ksh.2, 000.

During the ‘Tukuza talanta’ tourney that also culminated the end of 2017, three players namely Felix Aloo from Mori fc, Brian Gigs from Ahero rangers and Peter Sanches who is a students at Lwanda Magwar secondary school got a chance for trials at Sony sugar football club with Sony Sugar team Manger Emanuel Geno promising to ensure talent search begins from the grass root.
