Nyatike MP Tom Odege has said it is absurd that voters who brought Jubilee government to power are also complaining over parliament passing of 8 per cent levy on petroleum products.

Addressing journalists in Migori town, Odege said in the past elections the opposition led by NASA’s Raila Odinga led campaigns on basis of runaway and it was ignored.

“When we were telling other Kenyans on why they should vote for NASA they shouted wembe ni ule ule (the razor blade is the same), parliament had no otherwise but act on their decision,” Odege said.

Odege said the country is currently debt ridden and by passing the presidential memo and the supplementary budget, Kenya has avoided to dig deeper in country.

“We were risking being auctioned off in China, in other country we have had the China taking up infrastructure and revenue collection to settle off debt in threats on sovereignty, we cant go that way,” Odege said.

He added: “Out of funds set aside for development only thirty per cent of budget end up doing the work, the rest of eaten by recurrent budget and corruption, we need a end of corruption.”
