Former Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo has received political reprieve after being appointed to a state parastatal.

President William Ruto has appointed Kopiyo the chair of Sony Sugar board for a period of three years in a gazette notice.

The appointment takes effect immediately.

During the August 9 elections, Kopiyo decided not to defend his seat and see through a contract as the Migori County Public Service Board chair.

Hia tenure was to run for six years ending around 2027, but he was impeached with his entire board by the assembly.
