First Lady Margret Kenyatta and President Uhuru Kenya during Beyond Zero race

Migori county prepares for the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta’s beyond zero launch on Wednesday scheduled for Uriri town.

According to Migori Director of Health Joel Gondi today at 2pm stakeholders are to meet at Governor Okoth Obado’s office to have a smooth function.

“At 2pm (Monday) we will have a meeting at governor Obado’s office which will bring together all stakeholders including police officers. So far all is well and we will have smooth function,” Gondi told Migori News.

Migori is the only county in Nyanza region, and among last nationally to get the Beyond Zero mobile clinic after shoes were thrown at president Uhuru Kenyatta dias at September 08, 2014.

The new function will be away from the volatile Migori town for security reasons.

The function was postponed on November 5, 2014 where security threat was the reason despite the venue being moved to a more secure Sony Guest House in Awendo after the shoe saga.

On Saturday Obado’s wife Helen Obado said Migori was supposed to get the ambulance earlier because of high mortality rate which stands at 67.3 per cent, among highest nationally.

“The mood is right for the function which is long overdue and we will ensure it succeeds for sake of Migori women and children,” she said.
