Business came to a standstill in Migori town and its outskirts after chief justice David Maraga and the Supreme Court judges upheld Uhuru Kenyatta’s repeat elections.

The residents led by George Odhiambo Otoyo said that they do not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as there president and are calling for secessions in order to help them get equal resources from the Government.

They termed the October 26th October 2017 as a sham and the election was not conducted in the right way and said that Nyanza region is not even in Kenya at all.

Irate and angry residents barricaded the Kisii Migori highway and protested the election of Uhuru Kenyatta as the president and want the former prime minister and leader of opposition outfit NASA Raila Odinga to be declared as their duly elected president.

Migori bridge that separates Migori town into two had bonfires lit as irate and rowdy youths used tyres and uprooted wooden stalls that they burnt them on the highway as they protested the court verdict.

Migori County had only two sub counties of Kuria East and Kuria West that participated in the 26th October repeat election with the other six sub counties dominated by the Luo,Kisii and Luhya communities refused to take part in the polls after the opposition leaders rallied them not to take part in the polls.

During the October 26th presidential repeat polls,the other six sub counties witnessed violence that blocked the IEBC officials to conduct the elections.

Several people were reported dead, others maimed and seriously injured as a result of the police brutality that was emitted to the residents of various estates as the police engaged them in running battles as the police tried to calm the situation that had already gone out of hand.

They want secession, repeat elections and the opposition leader Raila Odinga to be declared the president as they believe that he was duly elected by all Kenyans and not only two tribes will be allowed to rule the country with an iron fist.
