ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has rubbished claimed by section of the press that his Jubilee Party counterpart Raphael Tuju is a senior advisor to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Sifuna said the story was “planted” by Deputy President William Ruto to try and push out Tuju from his position, which the ODM party was not involved in.

“We are shocked as a party that today the media claimed that Tuju is the chief advisor of our party leader, the story is a mere propaganda tool,” Sifuna said.

He added that ODM was confident that “Raila has enough advisors and there is nowhere that Tuju has been an advisor.”

Ruto, on social media took a swipe at the story:

“So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of the ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu,” he posted on his twitter handle.

Sifuna called on Ruto and his team to tackle their differences with Tuju without putting in the name of Raila.

He was speaking on Sunday at St. Celestino Oruba Catholic Church where he was hosted by Suna West MP Peter Masara for a funds drive.

Leaders present during the funds drive also included: Ochillo ayacko (Migori senator), Florence Mutua (Busia Woman Representative), Paul Abuor (Rongo MP), Lillian Gogo (Rangwe MP), Tim Wanyonyi (Westlands MP) and Mark Nyamita (Uriri MP.
