Migori Governor Okoth Obado has finally been released after spending weeks behind bars following his arrest last month.

Obado was arrested on Friday 21 September, 2018 in connection with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

The prosecution linked Obado and his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Otieno to the murder.

Obado was remanded at Industrial Area prison.

Lady Justice Jessie Lessit sitting in Nairobi released Obado on cash bail of 5 million with two sureties of 1 million.

Earlier Obado Justice Lessit suspended Obado’s bail application until witness statements and other bits of evidence were provided.

The Court however denied his aides and co-accused Oyamo and Obiero bail citing evidence against them in the case.

Sharon Otieno was found dead with stab wounds in Kodera forest in Homa-Bay County after she was reportedly abducted alongside Nation reporter Barrack Oduor.

According to Oduor, they were to meet Obado’s aide Michael Oyamo before things turned for worse on their way to a new location.

Before his arrest, Obado had claimed paternity to his unborn child who died as its mother was stabbed in the belly.
