Divers remove the body of the woman from river Migori

A woman believed to be a prostitute along the Resort Club area, which is Migori town red light district was found floating in river Migori on Wednesday.

Residents said the body which was still oozing with fresh blood might have been murdered, covered in a black jacket and thrown into the river.

A huge crowd milled along the river banks as a group prostitute took turns at insulting them and flashing their underwear to them.

“A boy who went to draw water in the morning found the body and alerted divers who found it stuck between stones before tying it to the bank,” a resident said.

Anne Achieng’ told reporters the woman might have disagreed with a client or colleagues which might have led to her death.

Migori OCPD Gladys Rutere said they have launched investigations over the matter as police officers took the body away to Migori Referral Hospital morgue.
