Migori assembly committee led by North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba has said the county referral hospital condition is still pathetic.

For four hours the team visited all departments in the hospital including the mortuary.

“We found that still there are no drugs, no running water with the oxygen plant not working completely. The working environment is also not friendly to patients,” Omamba said.

The hospital uses 80,000-100,000 liters of water daily but has been grappling with inadequate and erratic water supply forcing patients to come with their own water, including those seeking maternity services.

“The hospital needs a water rig because even the maternity wing, which is most crucial has no water. Even normal plumping in wards is not effective,” Omamba said.

In September 2019, former Migori governor Okoth Obado launched a Sh45million oxygen plant which has so far broken down and is not working.

Health executive Julius Awuor said they are in process of opening the procurement process and assured the public services will be smooth and within weeks they will distribute drugs.

“Since this hospital was upgrade we have experienced an upsurge of patients and we will cope,” Awuor said.
