Two police officers, coxswain still missing as KRA boat capsized with eight in Muhuru Bay

Search is still on for two administration police officers and a coxswain in an accident which happened over Mugabo beach in Lake Victoria in Migori county.

A Kenya Revenue Authority boat having eight peolpe was on a patrol along Kenya Tanzania border when a strong storm caused the accidnt.

Migori county police commander Mark Wanjala told the Star over the phone that so far two administration police officers and a coxswain who was manning the boat in a patrol are still missing.

“They were eight people in boat during the patrol and so far five people have been rescued alive, search is still on for the three,” Wanjala said.

Kibro Management Beach Unit chairman Joel Maulidi said the group was out patrolling on the lake off Mugabo beach along Kenya and Tanzania border when their boat capsized in a storm.

A police report showed the boat had officers from Kenya Port Services, Marine Police, Administration Police and staff from Kenya Revenue Authority.

The group also missed three AK $7 rifles and 30 rounds of ammunition.
