A section of Uriri residents on Thursday held peaceful demonstration in support of their legislator Mark Nyamita.

This followed a political backlash from Raila Odinga and ODM party after Nyamita was part of an entourage that visted State House and President William Ruto on February 7.

The demonstrators insisted Nyamita went out to seek for development for his constituents.

Gor Kamaranda who is the Secretary General Uriri professional forum said that when the legislator was campaigning, he had a manifesto which could only be realized when he mobilizes for resources.

“Nyamita is looking for the resources to build roads, schools, colleges and hospitals. They cannot be found on the street but offices and elected leaders like the president and governors,” Kamaranda said.

The professionals and ODM leaders held that the area Mp Mark Nyamita went to seek for development projects from the president.

“We have bad roads and want colleges and have children who want to be employed,” Edward Odera who is the former MCA for South Kanyamkago ward said.

Odera said they had seen other areas where the president has been going around promising development.

According to them, Eng. Nyamita did not do any wrong while visiting the president.

“We are not against the party or Raila. We are supporting him and at the same time we need development,” Hellen Oduor, Chairman for ODM in Uriri constituency said.
