Over 30 students from Suna East sub-county have benefited from an education scholarship that will seen them through their studies.

Among them is a 15 year old girl who will now be able to join form one after staying home for one year.

Neema Atieno was lucky enough not to have fallen into the trap of teenage pragnacy that is sweeping through Migori County, putting the county at the top in those cases.

Speaking to Migori News, Atieno said she was happy to join form one with this year’s cohort and continue with her education.

Her mother Caroline Akoth, a widow, said she could not afford to take her daughter to school as she was aleady overburdened by school fees she was paying for Atieno’s older siblings.

Akoth said her daughter was depressed and would often cry in the morning as she saw he peers go to school.  

But Atieno’s plight was heard by Job Tambo foundation, which will sponsor her through to form four.

Fredrick Alaro, the chairman Job Tambo foundation, said the foundation will sponsor the education for the 30 students in local schools.
