A somber mood engulfed residents of Kowuor village in Rongo, when a four year old boy was burnt to death in a fire incident today in the morning.

The minor was staying with his grandmother during the incident and was left in the care of his elder brothers aged below seven.

Neighbours said their grandmother, Martha Owuor, had gone to a nearby slaughter house where she works when the incident occurred.

“I left the house in the morning while the kids were sleeping and was later alerted by neighbors that my house was on fire,” she said.

The 71 year old grandmother said that she dint know what actually caused the fire as she had left nothing lit in the house by the time she left.

Neighbour tried to rescue property in the house without knowing the kid was trapped in the house.

Confirming the incident, Rongo OCPD, Catherine Irungu said the cause of the fire has not been established.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain what might have caused the fire.
