Migori Women Representative aspirant Dr. Pamela Odhiambo has raised storm by insisting the next holder of the seat should be married and have a stable relationship, like her.

Odhiambo wade into marital status of aspirants for the position which has been key in campaigns forcing other two major aspirants for the seat to make reference of their status in public.

“The post we are vying for is for women representative, and not for girls representative. A woman in cultural society is measure by having a husband, children and a steady relationship,” Odhiambo, a don at JKUAT university said.

She told Migori News during a recent function in the county accompanied by her husband of 24 years Prof. Romanus Odhiambo that aspirants are still single are “less strong, over emotional and careless in decision making.”

The couple, according to the aspirant is blessed with 11 children, a fact which she brags about in her campaigns.

“Women who are married are able to carry out sober relationship with people and wont take to the podium to talk about their beauty and search for husbands,” she said.

Other two main challengers for the seat, the incumbent Dennitah Ghati and Fatuma Mohammed are yet to be married.
But in an interview with The People newspaper (READ THE FULL INTERVIEW HERE) Ghati hinted that she will soon get married and has a daughter.

She said: “My partner has been supportive throughout the journey. He had to cut short his studies abroad to be available for me. Our wedding plans had to slow down as we concentrate on the healing process, but watch this space.”

Mohammed is yet to be married and has been using her status to appeal to voters across all eight sub-counties as the one not hindered by burden of family and husband in offering development to residents.
