Migori town police are holding a Member of County Assembly (MCA) suspected to have defiled an underage girl.

The Kuria East MCA was arrested by police officers at Ntimaru after avoiding arrest for over a week.

Police have been trailing the suspect who had escaped from the police after he was reported by the victim.

Clement Gatogo, the Migori county police commander confirmed the incident and said the man was picked up after the incidence was reported to the police by the minor’s mother.

“The mother had reported on 11th May that the man was in a guesthouse with the daughter who is a class six pupil at a local primary school,” he said.

On that day, police officers were immediately sent to the building and knocked the door of the house where they arrested the suspect with the minor.

The suspect however managed to escape after a group of local residents stoned the officers in an attempt to stop them from leaving.

He was however rearrested today and taken to Migori police station under tight police security and Gatogo said he will be taken to court as soon as investigations were complete.

Gladys Ogonda, the Kuria East OCPD said they had been looking for the accused for over a week and were keen to ensure that he was taken to court and charged.
