Police in Migori are holding a man, 21, in connecting with the defilement of an 8 years old girl in Migori.

The suspect only identified as Ochieng’ was arrested after the girls mother reported the incident at Kwoyo Kodalo police station in Awendo.

The mother was then assisted in filing the necessary documents that before a manhunt was launched for the suspect.

“The minor said she did not know the suspect but could identify him in a parade, she only recalled the man was called Ochieng,” Oyugi said.

Police then rounded up all the suspects before the girl positively identified the 21 year old man.

“We arrested all people called Ochieng in the village and after four parades the suspect was picked, we expect to arraign him in court on Monday,” Oyugi said.

Area chief Moses Ochare urged locals not to emulate the 8 year old’s mother in pursuing defilement cases.

According to Ochare most families feared going public with such information for fear of victimization.
