A 16 year old boy is held at Ntimaru police station, Kuria East sub-county after murdering his step brother, 15, at Nguruna village.

The minor (name withheld) stubbed his step brother to death following a disagreement over initiation practice they underwent recently.

Kuria East OCPD Gladys Ogonda said the suspect killed his brother after he jeered at him after crying during circumcision.

According to the Kuria culture crying during suspect circumcision is a cowardly character.

Ogonda said the suspect acted angrily by taking a knife, and in a fit of rage, killed his step brother.

The deceased was rushed to Kehancha district hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival due to excess bleeding.

“Kuria.communities should educate initiates to avoid a repeat of the accident,” she said.
