Central Kanyamkago MCA and Deputy Speaker candidate Eunice Odii has supported endorsement by Azimio for speaker Owino Likowa as preferred candidate on Wednesday.
Odii was among 43 MCAs who supported the endorsement and said with the same spirit the party should consider a woman as a deputy speaker.
“We have taken this decision to bank on Likowa as a welcome, we need a leadership in assembly that will also include women in leadership,” Odii said.
On Monday county assembly clerk Vincentia Kionge said there are eight contenders had submitted their papers out of ten who had picked speaker position form.
Kionge said they have beefed up security at the assembly and will ensure the process is peaceful.
Apart from Odii, four other MCAs David Chacha (Bukura Central), George Omamba (North Kamagambo), Moses Magwe (Masaba MCA and Brian Osodo (Kachieng) have shown interest for the Deputy Speaker position.
During Tuesday meeting, the ODM party said they have not picked a Deputy Speaker candidate and will give direction after speaker elections.
