Well wishers have continued to offer donation to Kehancha Mixed Secondary after fire gutted down a boys’ dormitory and left 100 students in cold.

Sh3.2million property went up in flame as fire believed to have been started by arsonists completely gutted down the dormitory. No student was hurt during the incident.

County ministry of Environment and Disaster Management offered makeshift rooms, 100 blankets, 100 mattresses and utilities to the students.

Joshua Ngwala, the ministry chief officer said they will ensure a legislation is passed in the assembly that will force schools and institutions to have modern fire fighting equipment.

Meanwhile Kuria West police officially launched arson investigations to nab the culprits and collected statements from students, staff and locals.

“The cause of the fire was arson and we seek to establish the culprits and the motive behind the attack,” Daniel Mirumbe, the school principal said.

“So far the school has been peaceful with no threat of strike from students but we seek to ascertain the motive behind the attack,” Mirumbe said.
