Migori senator Ochillo Ayacko received major boost for his governor bid in next polls by meeting former councillors.

Ayacko, his campaign team and selected supporters met to former council law markers to drum support of his bid.

“In unison (they) endorsed my transformative agenda that seeks to respond to broad challenges of peace building, inclusion, reconciliation and socio-economic development,” he said.

Ayacko is the first governor candidate, out of nine in next polls who has met with the councillors.

Among issues raised is how the councillors can form part in mobilisation and adding leadership depth to the campaign and next administration.

In Migori, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and his Suna West counterpart Peter Masara, both ODM candidates are part of former councillors.

They did not attend the meeting though, which was heavily coordinated by Suna Central MCA candidate on ODM ticket Samuel O’Brien.

Notable former councillors who missed the meeting included Ochieng’ Ogejo, former mayor and Junet’s personal assistant and George Ombori, former Suna Central MCA.

Ogejo and Ombori are key supporters of former Migori MP John Pesa who is a governor candidate on DAP-K ticket.

Other governor candidates are: Jane Moronge (UPIA), Philip Mwabe (Ind), Owiso Ngao (Ind), Rebbeca Maroa (UDA), Dalmas Otieno (Jubilee), Byron Oginga (LDP) and Boaz Okoth (Ind)
